Who am I and Why I Made This Website

Updated: Jul 19, 2022

Hello! My name is Harrison Brunner.

Who am I?

I am a science teacher. I am also graduate of Bowling Green State University and hold a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education, specifically, Adolescent Young Adult Integrated Science. I am also a Science and Math Education in ACTION Scholar. This is a program offered at Bowling Green State University for science and math education majors that offers them opportunities in research.

When I am not teaching and modifying my teaching methods to best educate students, one of my favorite hobbies is cooking. The process of experimentation that cooking often entails is as enjoyable to me as the scientific method I teach to my students.

Why Did I Make This Website?

Building a website takes a lot of time and planning. Not to mention, there are an infinite number of ways a website can be designed. For that reason, again, why did I make this website?

The reason I made this website is for one simple reason, my students. Digital learning has been incorporated into classrooms and curriculum for many years. When COVID-19 put the earth into quarantine, digital learning became the only option to teach students. Many school districts are now one to one, which means that all students and teachers in a school district have access to a computer. However, not every district is one to one, including my own district.

This made me realize something, technology is not just a part of learning. Technology is quickly becoming the future of learning, and in the case of a major event like a global pandemic, it becomes the primary way for students to learn. It also made me realize that my students needed a reliable way to access work and stay in touch with what is happening in my classroom.

That led me to this website. This website is a way for my students to be able to access all of their work they are completing in my classroom no matter the situation. It is also a place for students to access more than just their work, they will be able to access helpful videos, register for one on one tutoring sessions in person or digitally, access all of the resources used in my classroom, and be able to get help from me whenever they need it.

I hope you enjoy my website and feel free to use the Contact page to send me a message if you have any suggestions as to how I can make my website better or ask me any questions. Thanks for reading!
