This is the first week of school so we will be doing introductory assignments and reviewing class rules and expectations.
9/9/24 - 9/13/24
This week, we will be beginning the main content of the course. We will start with earth's rotation and revolution and what each of these processes creates for earth.
9/16/24 - 9/20/24
This week, we will be starting the 1st lab of the year which is about the angle of sunlight. We will also be completing a project on the planets of the solar system. We will then move into phases of the moon.
9/23/24 - 9/27/24
This week, we will be transitioning to talking about the phases of the moon and completing an outdoor build of the solar system before completing the last part of the unit, eclipses and tides.
9/30/24 - 10/4/24
This week, we will be completing the final section of the unit on eclipses and tides. After this, we will be completing review for a test coming up next week.
10/7/24 - 10/11/24
This week, we will be completing our first test on Wednesday and we will also be continuing our unit on outer space as well with galaxies.
10/7/24 - 10/11/24
This week, we will be concluding our unit on astronomy with a study of stars and a final research project on a astronomy concept. A test over the unit is next week and this week is short due to a waiver day on Friday.
10/21/24 - 10/25/24
This week, we will be concluding our unit on astronomy with a star on Wednesday. We will also be starting our unit on relative dating of rock layers.
10/28/24 - 11/1/24
This week, we will be continuing our study of relative dating and will be moving onto absolute dating this week as well.
11/4/24 - 11/8/24
This week, we will be continuing our study of absolute dating and half-lives. We will also be completing a mini-experiment on relative dating and moving on to the absolute dating lab
11/11/24 - 11/15/24
We will also be concluding our study of relative and absolute dating and we will then be moving on the Geologic time scale. A test on relative and absolute dating will be Friday.
11/18/24 - 11/22/24
We will concluding our study of geologic time and deciding on the date of our test. We will then be moving onto minerals.
11/25/24 - 11/29/24
This is a short week due to the Thanksgiving break. This week will be a time to do some make-up work.
12/2/24 - 12/6/24
We will be starting our study on minerals this week. This week is also only 4 days because we have a waiver day on Monday. We will be going over the basics of minerals and then completing a lab on crystals.
12/9/24 - 12/13/24
We will be completing detailed work on minerals this week by completing a lab on crystals. We will also be preparing for an identification lab next week.
12/16/24 - 12/20/24
We will be completing all of the final assignments in the minerals unit as well as finish the lab on mineral identification.
1/6/25 - 1/10/25
We will be starting the rocks unit this week, specifically the first of three parts. The first part is igneous rocks and we will be doing the notes and practice this week.
1/13/25 - 1/17/25
We will be continuing the unit on rocks by going over and then completing the practice over sedimentary and metamorphic rocks. There is also no school on Friday due to a teacher work day.
1/20/25 - 1/24/25
We will be continuing the unit on rocks by going over metamorphic rocks. This is only a 2 day week this week due to MLK day on Monday followed by 2 snow days
1/27/25 - 1/31/25
We will be continuing the unit on rocks by going over metamorphic rocks. We will also be completing a rock identification lab.
2/3/25 - 2/7/25
We will be continuing a unit that we started last week on weathering, erosion, and deposition. We will also be preparing for a lab over the safe topic that will be done shortly.
2/10/25 - 2/14/25
We will be continuing a unit that we started last week on weathering, erosion, and deposition. We will also be preparing for the unit on earthquakes.
2/17/25 - 2/21/25
This is a 4 day week because President's Day is on Monday. We will be starting an experiment on earthquakes that involves building a structure that can survive an earthquake. We will also be finishing the earthquake assignments.
2/24/25 - 2/28/25
We will be moving onto plate tectonics as a whole this week which includes tsunamis and volcanoes. (There are only 4 slides this week as I was out sick with the flu on Tuesday 2/25 - Mr. Brunner)
3/3/25 - 3/7/25
We will be continuing plate tectonics as a whole this week which includes tsunamis and volcanoes. We will then be preparing for a test coming up next week.
3/10/25 - 3/14/25
We will be finishing up the plate tectonics unit this week with a test happening on Thursday before moving into the atmosphere unit. There are only 3 slides this week due to a waiver day on Monday and the ACT day happening on Tuesday which is not a regular school day schedule.
